You would be surprised by how many things you can do to make your hotel better for the environment and you do not have to spend a lot of money for you to take advantage of having your hotel become more environmental friendly. A few things you can do to involve your guests and employees would include recycling, changing light bulbs, save water, buy the things you need in large quantities, use different transportation options, and reuse any items such as towels. By incorporating each of these environmental friendly tips to make your hotel
more green, you may attract more guests that are into saving their environment.
Recycling is a lot better for the environment, and it is something that thousands of people do in their own homes every day so many people may not have a problem with it. You may not have to purchase recycling bins because you may be able to get a few of them at recycling centers. You could get some for newspapers, bottles, cans, and a regular trash can for other items. You do not need to put them in any of the guest rooms since they take up so much space but you can put some in your hotel lobby or outside on the pool deck.
During the day while your guests are out and about you can change the light bulbs all around your hotel and purchase some fluorescent bulbs because that will save you money on your electric bill for your hotel. Encourage your guests to leave the lights off during the day and open their curtains to have the sunlight stream in so they do not have to waste the light. You can also have them unplug everything because when something is plugged in such as the television or their cell phone, it is still using up some energy.
For your hotel, you may want to have notices in each of the guest rooms saying how long to take a shower and remind them to turn the water off while they are brushing their teeth because that will help you save so much money on your water bill. It may happen that you will have guests who do not want to cooperate because they are used to their normal routine. You may have a few guests who are willing to cooperate because they know it is better for the environment.
Whenever you go shopping for extra things such as food for your restaurants or linens for the guest rooms or pool area you should buy them in large quantities. Not only will buying in bulk save you money, but they will also last longer. A lot of people like taking more than one shower a day especially if they went swimming or went to the beach and need to clean their hair from the salt or fresh water so the towels will go by fast. A lot of guests love to put towels on the floor in front of the shower so they can have something to step on once they get out so they will not slip. It is also good to keep extra food handy for your restaurants or cafes because people love to eat especially if you serve good food that attract the guests.
Instead of transporting your guests back and forth to the hotel give them a map so they can have the option to walk if they want to. If it is raining, you are going to expect them to ride the bus but you want to provide them with other transportation options. Your hotel may be in the center of everything their is to do in the city or country you are located in so why take a bus if everything is within walking distance.
The last important tip is to have your guests and your employees reuse certain items such as towels. If you have them hang up their towels, the housekeeping staff is less likely to take them to be cleaned. You will get quite a few guests that will not cooperate with having to use the same towels over and over because they would feel dirty since they already used them.
While you are creating changes in your hotel it is important that you put up notices on the outside and inside of your hotel. That way people will know about the changes and can come see you if they have any concerns or they may want to know what they can do to help. Be sure to put the hotel’s contact information on it if they have family or friends that are planning on visiting and you also should put the new changes on your hotel’s website so people can see before they decide on whether or not to stay at your hotel.

Le Vallauris is a work of art disguised as a restaurant in Palm Springs. The dining area is accented with luxurious Flemish tapestries and the furnishings are fit for 18th century French royalty. The comfortable atmosphere at Le Vallauris is accentuated by beauty everywhere you look. The decor is every bit as artful as the food they serve. Even the menu is reminiscent of art, as it is handwritten on a board and placed on an easel by guests’ tables. All of this is enough to make La Vallauris fabulous, but they also have the best dessert menu in Palm Springs, which is no mean feat.
